Mark Davis has been called “one of the most underrated songwriters in the world” (Michael Barclay, Radio Free Canuckistan). His eighth album, Eliminate the Toxins, was nominated for the 2012 Polaris Prize. Herohill called it “the one record every Canadian music fan should hear.”
Mistakes I Meant to Make (2007), spent several weeks atop the NCCR Folk/Roots chart, and made Mark CBC Galaxie’s #1 Canadian Roots Artist. UNCUT (UK) called the album “stunning”, and Le Cri Du Coyote (France) called “By the Time” “the most beautiful song of the century.”
Mark is a founding member of roots-rock experimentalists Old Reliable, with whom he released four influential and critically acclaimed albums. He is a mentor to The Robin Hood Ensemble, a group of songwriters with developmental disabilities with whom he co-wrote the album New Day Dawning (CSJR #1 Folk/Roots chart). He is also the musical force behind gothic-roots-dance-rock duo, Concealer. 2014 will see the release of Concealer’s debut, fêted:fetid, as well as Mark’s next solo album, Just As Somewhere.
