Released on November 15, 2011, Have Not Been the Same – Vol. 1: Too Cool to Live, Too Smart to Die features contemporary Canadian indie rock artists performing cover versions of songs from the period covered by the book Have Not Been the Same: The Can-Rock Renaissance 1985–1995. The book was written by Canadian music journalists Michael Barclay, Ian A.D. Jack and Jason Schneider, and chronicles the development of alternative rock in Canada between 1985 and 1995. Proceeds from album sales support Toronto’s Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.
