About

“Davis smashes through the barriers that have all but stagnated today’s roots scene.” (Herohill)

Mark Davis is an Edmonton-based musician who has been called “one of the most underrated songwriters in the world” (Michael Barclay). Kicking against the boundaries of traditional roots rock, he incorporates psychedelia, dream pop, electronics, soul, and ambient into his ever-evolving sound.

Mark’s third solo album, Eliminate the Toxins, was nominated for Canada's Polaris Prize and his previous solo release, Mistakes I Meant to Make spent several weeks at #1 on the national folk/roots chart.

Beyond his solo work, Mark leads heavy wave duo Concealer, whose debut, feted:fetid, charted nationally for six months and won DJ/Electronic Recording of the Year at the Edmonton Music Awards. He is also a founding member of post-country experimentalists, Old Reliable.

Mark has shared stages and bills with Guy Clark, Alejandro Escovedo, K’naan, Wilson Pickett, Ray Condo, and the Sadies and collaborated in the studio with members of Calexico, Giant Sand, Blue Rodeo, the smalls and Corb Lund.

As an arts instructor at Robin Hood Association, Mark co-created and produced two albums featuring musicians with intellectual disabilities. His contributions to Edmonton’s music community have earned him the Salute to Excellence Performance Award and a nomination for the Mayor’s Celebration of the Arts ‘Courage to Innovate’ Award.

Mark’s fourth solo album, Just As Somewhere, and Concealer’s sophomore album, It’s Immaterial, are set for release in 2026 via his label, Weatherbelle.

“Davis successfully combines the comfort food of Canadiana roots rock with spooky spell-casting in ways that few artists other than Daniel Lanois even attempt.” (TheRecord.com)
